A smarter way to manage end-of-life devices
From buyback and certified data erasure to responsible recycling, every step is managed - so your team can focus elsewhere.
How the program works
JB Hi-Fi Business coordinates end-to-end IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) through our certified partner. We collect devices across your locations and assess eligible units for competitive buyback value.
All devices undergo certified data erasure with full audit trails, and we process equipment through approved refurbishment or recycling channels for responsible reuse. Payment options include a buyback credit applied directly to your JB Hi-Fi Business account, or a cash settlement.
The result is recovered value, reduced data risk, stronger compliance and less internal IT overhead.
Why choose JB Hi-Fi Business for buyback?
*Buyback values are determined after assessment and depend on the device’s condition, model, age and market demand. A buyback payment is not guaranteed for all devices. The final offer you receive may vary from the initial indicative valuation after full assessment. Devices with no remaining value may attract an eWaste disposal cost.

Yes. The Buyback and eWaste Recycling Program is only available to our Business customers.
Buyback values are confirmed after assessment of the devices and vary based on their condition, model, age and market demand. We’ll give you an indicative value upfront based on the details you provide, and the final amount may change once we’ve fully reviewed the device. Some devices may not qualify for a payment and may incur a cost for the eWaste disposal service. We will let you know if that’s the case.
We work with our trusted partner to assess and recover any remaining value from your devices. The aim is to give each device a second life, either by selling it as is, refurbishing it, or responsibly recycling it when components still hold value. All items undergo certified data erasure, and a Certificate of Data Erasure is provided for your records.
If you accept the final offer, the value is either applied as credit to your JB Hi-Fi Business account or paid via EFT, at your election.
If a device has no recoverable value, our partner can provide a quote for approved recycling or secure disposal. All devices are processed through appropriate end-of-life channels, and certificates will be supplied to confirm data erasure. You can also request sustainability certificates documenting the environmental impact of your recycling.
Our certified partner uses Blancco Mobile Diagnostics & Erasure software, compliant with ISO 27001. All erasures on your obsolete and end-of-life assets are verified and certified through a tamper-proof audit trail. You will receive a Certificate of Data Erasure for compliance and audit purposes.
If data cannot be erased due to device damage, the device is physically destroyed and ethically recycled. Data security is guaranteed regardless of whether your device has residual value.
Electronic waste is a significant waste stream in Australia. A structured buyback process helps businesses handle end-of-life devices through approved reuse, recycling, or disposal channels.
All devices are processed through our certified eWaste recycling partner who recovers materials for reuse in new products. Devices are dismantled in accordance with environmental standards, and hazardous materials are safely handled and disposed of in compliance with Australian regulations. A detailed buyback report is provided to support ESG reporting.
Once you have requested an assessment through your Account Manager and provided the details of the devices you would like reviewed, you'll typically receive an initial indicative value within 5 business days. If you agree to proceed, we arrange for collection and assessment of the devices with our partner, with final offers typically provided within 30 business days of collecting your devices.
Account credit: If you elect for any residual value to be credited to your JB Hi-Fi Business account, this credit will be applied to your account within 3 business days upon offer acceptance.
Cash settlement: If you choose a cash settlement, our buyback partner will issue a Recipient-Created Tax Invoice (RCTI). You will then invoice the partner for that same amount, with payment to be made by the partner within 30 days of receipt of your invoice.
Timelines may vary based on device quantities and locations.
You can choose not to proceed at any time prior to accepting the final buyback offer.
If you decline the final offer, devices will be returned to you at your cost. Certified data erasure is completed for all devices and will be billed to you, ensuring your data is securely removed regardless of your decision.
