Far East Consortium (FEC) is an international property developer who commenced operations in Australia in the mid-1990’s. FEC have developed some of Melbourne’s most renowned residential apartment projects including, Upper West Side, The Fifth, West Side Place (250 Spencer St), Northbank Place, Flinders Wharf, Royal Domain and Regency Tower and has been responsible for over $2B worth of projects to date in Australia.
FEC was selected to develop The Towers at Elizabeth Quay by the WA Government and the MRA. Located on Perth’s waterfront, the set of landmark buildings with the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Hotel as the centerpiece will herald Perth’s arrival as a world-class city. FEC is experiencing growth with the addition of staff and offices expected in the immediate term.
The Problem
FEC had reached critical capacity and had the immediate need
for more effective communication and collaboration technologies.
Their outstanding business growth and increase in staff meant that a flexible replacement for small- business focused appliances was needed, as well as additional functionality for an increasingly demanding and mobile workforce. Video collaboration and presentation spaces were also needed to position FEC as a technology leader.
The Solution
JB Hi-Fi Business developed a comprehensive Unified Communications & Collaboration Solution that facilitated presentation and collaboration across the Melbourne FEC Head Office and remote FEC satellite offices.
This solution incorporates:
- Voice communications including IP PBX, phones and telecommunications interfaces.
- Video communications including endpoints, Virtual Meeting Rooms and interoperability.
- A Melbourne boardroom fit out to enable effective Unified Communication.
The outcomes were delivered utilising:
- Cisco Unified Collaboration Manager (CUCM)
- Cisco Webex Named Users
- Audio Visual & Control Components
The Outcome
With a robust, flexible and secure UC&C platform, FEC now has the right technology to support their collaborative and connected workplace strategy.
This solution not only facilitates enhanced communication and collaboration across the firm, but it also contributes to a more productive and efficient workforce. By utilising Cisco SRST technology, FEC now has a resilient collaboration platform that delivers local survivability and local presence. This provides them with an unprecedented uptime for their organisation.
What’s more, the introduction of Cisco Webex provides a flexible platform for voice, video and web conferencing allowing all stakeholders to collaborate effectively no matter where they are located.
“Far East Consortium had reached critical capacity and could no longer ignore the needs for more effective communication and collaboration technologies. Growth in business goals and staff meant a flexible replacement for small-business focused appliances was needed, as well as additional functionality for an increasingly demanding and mobile work force. Moreover, video collaboration and presentation spaces needed overhauling to position Far East Consortium as a technology leader.
In short, we needed a complete solutions partner. In assessing vendor offerings, it became quickly clear that Cisco was well positioned to achieve our strategic goals. JB Hi-Fi Business, in partnership with Telstra and Cisco, has built a complete solution to achieve all of our immediate technology goals and provide capacity and flexibility for
our future.”
